| | History came to life in Miss Dunnigan and Mrs. Florioโs reading groups this week! To celebrate Presidentโs Day, students participated in a themed Readers Theater, performing skits for their classmates. These performances weren't just about acting; they were a deep dive into the importance of past presidents, including Washington, Lincoln, Madison, Monroe, Roosevelt, and Kennedy. It was a fantastic way for students to sharpen their oral reading fluency while honoring the legacies of our nation's leaders! | | | Our third graders visited Eco Island this week for a fascinating, hands-on science lesson! After learning about owl adaptations, students took on the role of young biologists to dissect owl pellets. As they carefully searched through the feathers and fur, they discovered the skeletal remains of the owl's prey. Using bone sorting charts, the students were able to identify exactly what the owls had eaten, giving them a unique look at the food chain in action. | | | Our gym was transformed into a high-speed raceway this week! Students in PE participated in a Daytona 500 activity, navigating a custom track on scooters. While "burning rubber" (metaphorically, of course), the kids had a blast learning about the mechanics of racing, pacing, and staying in their lanes. It was a high-energy way to work on coordination and gross motor skills while celebrating one of racing's biggest events! | | | Our second graders received a special visit from the Erie County Department of Health this week for an interactive lesson on dental hygiene! Students discussed the "big four" of a healthy smile: proper brushing and flossing techniques, the role of good nutrition, the importance of regular dental visits, and how fluoride helps keep teeth strong. It was a great reminder that a healthy mouth is a key part of a healthy body! | | | | Valentine's Day Fun!Miss Dunnigan/Mr. Gerster/Mrs. Florio/Mrs. Ungaroโs 5th graders and Mrs. Woodโs 2nd graders teamed up this week for a creative afternoon of crafting! This cross-grade collaboration focused on team building and making meaningful connections between our older and younger students. It was wonderful to see our 5th graders step into leadership roles while helping their 2nd-grade partners, strengthening our school community one craft at a time. | | | | School Store FundraiserThank you for supporting our SchoolStore program! We are on our way to reaching our goal, but we need everyone's help to make sure our teachers get the essential tools they need to help our students succeed. If your family has not participated, there's still time!
This safe and easy program is 100% online so there is no face-to-face selling, collecting money, or delivering products. Your child will receive a prize just for participating, and more prizes will be awarded when goals are reached. Participation prizes are awarded after 8 emails are shared. All other prizes will come in mid-March.
